While Prison Break didn’t have the same production quality as some of the HBO blockbuster series filmed during the same period, I truly enjoyed the plotline. Prison Break exercised a theme found in many spaghetti Western films which in turn is often mirrored in Tarantino’s movies where the line between protagonist and antagonist is blurred as temporary alliances are formed to achieve a common goal. This is best exemplified in the first season of Prison Break where Michael Schofield puts together a motley crew of inmates to facilitate the rescue of his brother and subsequent escape.
With the characters of Prison Break fresh in my mind, I was surprised to see several familiar faces while watching the Dark Knight Rises. Had I not watched the series and movie nearly back to back, I may have missed this nugget of cinema trivia.
